Revitalized Medvedev Wins First Title in Over Two Years

19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
