The second-hand marketplace Members Express Anger Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
